so what do you do when you’re down in the los angeles area for a family fun lifestyle session at an awesome tree climbing park in beverly hills only to get a text the day of that the oldest hurt his arm and tree climbing might not be the best idea? you improvise and create even more family fun!
when i arrived at their home, we bounced around a few ideas that might work best for the boys: pumpkin patch (which during october, we were pretty much meeeeeh about ha), visiting the new local coffee shop, park exploration. when mom mentioned that the oldest loves to paint, we decided a trip to Michael’s arts and crafts to pick up face paint would be perfect for their family fun.
side note about the face paint at michael’s: we purchased the face paints only to exit the store and notice that the 6 color set that was purchased was $80, way too steep for us to play around with. mom went back for the return and i hung out with dad and the boys in the front section. and i have to say that for being the front of a store, which would seem to be very unportrait like setting, i absolutely love these photos of dad with his boys!
if you’re ever thinking about a family fun lifestyle session at the home but aren’t sure what we would do or that the house doesn’t work for family photos, your home always does. plus we can always mix it up by making a trip to michael’s for arts and crafts fun or even the library/farmer’s market/coffee shop/etc – the options are endless!
