when your friends are also photographers, you know that our playdates are going to be at a location that is part scouting/part play time. and that was this date at san jose’s egyptian rosicruician museum with tenley clark of tenley clark photography and maryam of hi plus hello photography.
this little oasis is tucked in the rose garden district and the grounds make you feel like you’re in another time and place. there’s a koi pond, pillars that create instant stages or hide and seek corners. there’s even a labyrinth that we missed, which just shows how big this place is. i’m waiting until my girls are a bit older to check out the museum though, i think that they might be a bit freaked out by the mummies!
i also shot all of this on my new-to-me lens, the canon 135mm which is a gorgeous, telephoto lens. i tend to shoot with my 35mm a lot for those nice wide shots but i love pushing myself into a different focal length and seeing how to work around it. this lens is very gorgeous (that bokeh, swoooooooon) but i don’t have too many wide shots of this awesome location. and speaking of this awesome, unique location, any family interested in their family session here?! yes?! email firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s connect, let’s create, let’s play!
