personal film photography

i recently purchased a “new to me” medium format film camera, mamiya 645. since my adventure at field trip (which i still need to blog about haha), i have been shooting more film. the pauses, the need to compose and breath before clicking that shutter and that crazy anticipation of seeing how your shots developed. i have two 35 mm film cameras but when i saw this medium format manual camera for sale, i had to jump on it and am completely loving it. since fully manual so there’s way more thinking on my toes and also trying to figure out the limitations of the camera (i.e. i love backlighting to get that funky flare but that’s way trickier to do with film so i’m noticing that i need to rethink how i shoot). it’s also not exactly lightweight or sleek like all my other cameras so there’s a definite learning curve with it and secretly sometimes it scares me haha. but the end result so far? i’m loving it.

all photos developed/scanned from richard photo lab (in less then 24 hours, whaaaaa?! incredible!) and shot on kodak portra 160 pushed one stop. except for this first shot obviously 🙂

some of my personal film photography favorites of the girls doing what they love, playing in the backyard.
