enjoying mother’s day

we kept our day pretty simple. an impromptu morning craft with my daughter that led to an endless amount of glitter in our backyard. originally i wanted to glue each piece then glitter them. then i realized that my daughter would perhaps do one letter followed by her insisting that i am doing each letter incorrectly (four-nager ha). so instead i sprinkled the glitter on top of the wooden letters and used tweezers to carefully pick them up. once i finished photographing them, my daughter spent about ten minutes running her fingers through the glitter. apparently it’s the super simple, messy crafts that can yield the most fun. san jose photographer, mother's day craft, crafting, glitter, colorfulsan jose photographer, mother's day craft, crafting, glitter, colorfulsan jose photographer, mother's day craft, crafting, glitter, colorful

during lunch time (and carina’s nap time), i took emilia to see monkey kingdom while the husband worked on the honey-to-do list. it was the first time that we walked out of a movie.

the movie was absolutely adorable and cute and i loved it. but there were two sections that was too hard for emilia to deal with. the first being the alpha women who literally beat down a mom monkey and stole her baby to teach her a lesson while the other one was a monkey being eaten by a giant lizard. ooops! how was i to know?! i thought that it would be a cute movie about monkeys and it never crossed my mind that the real life scenarios would scare the shit out of her. should have taken her to see avengers instead!

we also had an impromptu picnic date at the park to enjoy some coffee and cookies. there was bubble play, somersaults, chases and laughs. a simple family date which was perfect before dinner.

it was a simple, fun and a perfectly loving day filled with spending time with my loves. and an extra perk was my husband getting me a massage this evening at burke williams so i can sneak away and relax, something that is long overdue and very much needed 🙂

p.s. did you know that i’m giving away a family session at my favorite location – the hill?! check out my facebook page and comment with your favorite mother’s day memory (must like my page too). winner will be announced on friday morning 😀
