simple leprechaun game

my eldest daughter can be a camera ham most of the time (some photographer’s children run away from the camera, mine totally hams it up) but there are times when she’s over it. this was that kind of day. after a long play date, i knew that she would not want to deal with taking pictures so i figured something out that would work to my advantage to capture some simple saint patrick’s day photos (as crafty as i am, there are times where i just don’t have time to set something elaborate up to take holiday photos, this was that kind of day).

i quickly set up a ridiculously easy and simple leprechaun game. i told her that a leprechaun hid something in the small clover patch in the backyard and gave my daughter a magnifying glass and hung back so she could discover it. boom, easy peasy heehee!

and this image? it is now a favorite moment that just screams childhood to me, her excitement and true joy over finding the little fairy that the leprechaun left for her.

…though only for a second as once she discovered the fairy, she left me for the sand box. at least i got my moments 🙂
